We're Jen & Aubree — partners in life and in this work.

Oak & Oar grew from a shared vision between the two of us. What began as conversations and embodiments of healing, ancestry, elements, and alignment has taken root here in Kīlauea, where the land itself became a partner in our journey.

We lease our half acre through ʻĀina Hoʻokupu o Kīlauea, a local nonprofit rooted in food sovereignty and land stewardship on Kauaʻi's north shore. We do this to pour what we know — and are still learning — back into the place that holds us. To make medicine accessible. To support food sovereignty on this island. To stay in deep relationship with the land and everything growing around us.

At the heart of Oak & Oar is relationship — to the land, to each other, and to the web of aliveness that surrounds us. Tending the earth is also a way of tending ourselves and each other. We see this as an intimate, dynamic, ongoing practice of reciprocity.

The Farm

This is hands-in-the-dirt work. We seed, tend, harvest, and process everything ourselves — moving through the seasons with the land. It's more than soil and plants. It's a living collaboration, teaching us how to grow deeper together.

We see herbs not as crops but as companions. Each carries a story, a flavor, and a medicine that brings us closer to the natural rhythms of life and to true essence. The work is not ours alone — it is the plants, the soil, the wind, the sun, and the waters that hold the space for healing, for connection, for remembering. Our role is to listen, to tend, and to share these gifts with care.

Aubree hand-draws every label and creates all the packaging and visual identity for Oak & Oar — each piece an extension of the same attention we bring to the land. The art doesn't illustrate the medicine. It belongs to it.

We are bridges — like the oar made from oak — for this medicine to find its natural river into community. By hand, we weave what the land offers into teas, incense, and seasonal offerings that carry a direct connection to the plants and their healing properties. May we continue to be skillful and remain in integrity — to this sacred practice, to each other, and to this island.

The Teas

Every seed we plant carries the intention of becoming nourishment, medicine, and connection. The teas begin long before the blend — in the soil, formed by seasonal rhythms and the specific character of this place. We harvest when the plant is ready, dry slowly, and blend with attention to what each plant actually carries: its flavor, its medicine, its story.

They are also held by the hands that tend and harvest them. The accountability, consistency, and collaboration that move through this work leave their own imprint — carried quietly into every blend.

These plants meet you where you are. What moves through the relationship is shaped by what you bring to it and how open you are to receiving. Every cup is an invitation to pause, sip, breathe, and return to your own rootedness — a direct line to this land, and to yourself. Soil to soul.

The Name

The name Oak & Oar carries our story.

The oak honors strength, rootedness, and fire — echoes of one lineage, rooted in the forests of Poland. The oar speaks to movement, water, and the willingness to cross open sea — echoes of the other, shaped by Scandinavian coastal winds. Together they symbolize not only our ancestries but the elemental balance that guides our work: to stay grounded while remaining open to flow and possibility.

Oak & Oar is where past and present meet, where ancestry and aliveness weave together — rooted in the belief that tending the earth is also a way of tending ourselves and each other.

The Land

We are not from here. We are learning, slowly and intentionally, what it means to be in right relationship with the ʻāina — to listen, tend carefully, and give more than we take.

We grow on the island (mokupuni) of Kauaʻi, in the district (moku) of Haleleʻa, within the land division (ahupuaʻa) of Kīlauea. This system of land stewardship — stretching from mountain to sea — has sustained these islands for generations. We are grateful to tend a small piece of it.

We recognize the Kingdom of Hawaiʻi, its living culture, and the generations of stewardship that have sustained these islands long before we arrived. We hold that recognition not as a disclaimer but as a daily practice.

Gather With Us

The farm is becoming a place to gather. We want people to walk the land, taste plants where they grow, and feel what it means to be in direct relationship with living medicine.

We host energy work sessions and experiential gatherings — including Feeding Your Demons in group setting. Farm tours, tea tastings, workshops, and creative events are coming. Stay connected and walk alongside us as we grow.
